Internship and Service Learning

During the study programme, students are required to obtain 10 ECTS opting for an International Internship or an International Service-Learning activity.
International Internship

Concerning the International Internship, students are required to carry out a social innovation project linked to the specialisation path chosen at the beginning of Year II. Although a list of possible projects will be available, students may come up with their own ideas. Students must find a supervisor for their social innovation project from the available lecturers at one of the Degree-Awarding Universities.

Alternatively, DIGISOC students may obtain 10 ECTS through their involvement in an International Service-Learning programme. As is well known, International Service-Learning programmes have several primary characteristics. They allow students to:

  • engage in organised service activities that address community needs.

  • get involved in practical learning experiences and cross-cultural interactions.

  • participate in regular reflection sessions.

  • gain a deeper appreciation of global and intercultural issues.

In sum, they allow a learner to become a global citizen, i.e. an active player in global development efforts.
