What makes
DIGISOC unique

A structurally integrated European Joint Master

DIGISOC is a European Joint Master designed to combine academic depth with societal relevance. Its uniqueness does not lie in a single feature, but in the way interdisciplinarity, European mobility, joint governance and hybrid learning are structurally combined into one coherent programm

Interdisciplinarity as a structural principle

Interdisciplinarity in DIGISOC is not an add-on, but the foundation of the programme design. Contemporary societies face complex social challenges, and our capacity to find effective solutions depends on cooperation across disciplines, forms of expertise and institutions. Students therefore engage with perspectives from the social sciences and humanities while also working with digital methods, data-informed approaches and design thinking.

Through challenge-based learning formats, laboratories, project work and collaborations with external partners, students learn to bridge disciplinary boundaries and address complex socio-digital challenges from multiple perspectives.

International mobility embedded in the curriculum

DIGISOC offers a genuinely European learning experience, with international mobility built directly into the curriculum. All students participate in onsite Summer Schools, creating shared learning moments across countries, institutions and disciplines.

In addition, students can personalise their study pathways by attending courses across the DIGISOC consortium and partner universities, choosing between onsite, online and hybrid formats depending on their learning needs.

A European Joint Master programme

DIGISOC is designed and delivered as a European Joint Master programme by three degree-awarding universities:

  • University of Naples Federico II (Italy)

  • University of Innsbruck (Austria)

  • Palacký University Olomouc (Czechia)

Students are enrolled at all degree-awarding universities, while the final degree is awarded according to the applicable national regulations of the consortium partners. This means that students benefit from full academic access across the consortium, including learning resources, teaching expertise and institutional infrastructures at all three universities.

A joint governance structure ensures shared academic standards, coordinated curricula and collective responsibility across the participating institutions. In addition, students receive joint micro-credentials for individual learning activities completed within the DIGISOC consortium.

The Collaboratorium: hybrid learning with intent

A distinctive feature of DIGISOC is its Collaboratorium for Blended International Hybrid Learning. Rather than using digital tools as a technical add-on, the Collaboratorium is designed as an integrated learning environment that supports collaboration, challenge-based education and international teamwork.

By combining onsite interaction with scalable digital solutions, the Collaboratorium enables students to work together across borders, disciplines and institutions while fostering a strong sense of learning community.
